Magnificent! I wish the TV series used a similar design to this.

It's possible that they didn't have the budget to realise something like this.

Oh my gosh this is stunning... beautiful! Is that a castle at the top of the mountain? The shadows and the clouds-- the view is from so high up, like looking out of a plane's window.

I haven't read the book but this is one of the best pieces of fantasy art I've seen on dA yet! you did an amazing job with the atmospheric perspective and I really like that as I zoom in on the image I can see more of the scribbly brush work! The lighting is really consistent also. Great job. You should be really proud of this piece!

Ooh. I love the little landmarks dotted around the mountains. Which place should I visit first? Do I travel along the cast shadows to conceal my movement or should I be afraid of the dark? What is beyond the seemingly impassable terrain in the background? I wonder what the view from the eyrie is like. Will I need an oxygen tank like at Mount Everest? What about the danger from ultraviolet rays? Please don't answer these questions, I'm just in awe and thinking out loud.

I can also totally imagine a modern city built on and into the huge mountain, with the surrounding hills and flatland as suburbs and farmland.

I have heard much praise of the A Song of Ice and Fire series. I guess I should start reading! :+fav:

Lovely! One thing I didn't like so much about the series was the Eyrie wasn't as crazy high up as it's described in the books.
